As far as cliches go, an oasis in the desert would be right up there. But, that is exactly what Paradise Valley is. Grab a taxi or van for a 45 minute drive out of Taghazout, Morocco and you can be in said oasis.
Hopefully your taxi driver is as crazy as ours was. On the way we waited on the side of the road for him to do his tagine grocery shopping (twice), and then he got tea drunk on the way back and changed from a slow overly careful driver to a madman closing his eyes, clapping his hands and playing chicken with ongoing traffic.
We made it there and back in one piece. But we tried to mess with our own wellbeing once reaching Paradise. It’s a hike. And for the unfit can create a sensation of heavy, heavy breathing. It’s slippery, watch yo’self. The water is cold, or refreshing, depending on how you look at it. And there are cliffs to jump from, take your pick. Choose from varying spots, heights and water depth targets.
But all you really need to know is it’s beautiful. Nothing beats sunning on the rocks. Worth every short breath, comical slip, cold hardened nipples, and talking yourself off a ledge.
Check out this video I made of one of our days out there.
PS I am currently working at Stoke Travel at their Moroccan surf camp, hence the opportunity to visit Paradise. If you want to get here book at stoketravel.com/morocco and use the promo code SHARKWEEK to get a free Stoke shirt.
